    Snap, crackle, pop, ow!
There's been this dull but disturbing snapping/cracking sound occurring in my left shoulder area since about Thursday or Friday of last week and it's really been creeping me out. I'm afraid I may have either fractured or broken something (which would suck because I've never broken a bone in my whole life. I've been quite lucky.) I guess it could also be a torn tendon or a ligament. :o/ ..I also have a bit of pain. It's a dull pain, but it's definitely there.

Anyway, I finally broke today and made an appointment to see my doctor tomorrow morning at 11. We'll see what happens. I'll probably need an x-ray and all sorts of stuff.

    Stop swimming..Tide's rising..
There are times when you just really shock and amaze yourself.. those times when you accomplish something truly great which you never thought you'd actually be able to accomplish. You find yourself succeeding at something when others did nothing but discourage and doubt you.. and maybe you had begun to doubt yourself too a little bit.
You decide, you commit and you survive... whatever it is. Somehow you find a way, this inner strength, to push yourself through something so difficult and more challenging than you ever imagined.

You overcome and, yes, you actually win.

But then there are those other (hopefully) very rare and infrequent times in your life when you decide to simply surrender; to give up altogether. You reach a point where you want nothing more than to just stop fighting because it just doesn't seem worth it to you anymore. You begin to wonder what the point of it all is and discover you've simply had your fill...have grown tired of being beaten down. Slowly, you stop swimming against the current and just let it overtake you. You surrender peacefully and find, surprisingly, that you're relieved to drown.

The video is nothing special in my opinion, but the song immediately got my attention and struck me as quite good.

I'm just now realizing I've been away for far too long.
My fucking job has been keeping me from the things I truly love.
This evening I've been catching up with some wonderful old friends of mine... It just brings tears to my eyes.

    Hot babes.
    Bellydancing.
What more could you ask for? :P

I don't believe I know the other ladies listed on the flyer, but the lovely and extremely talented Jeniviva will be performing at this event. You have GOT to see what an amazing dancer she is. What a performer! If you're somewhat close to Brooklyn and have no other plans, you should go to this!

"I'm not gonna hurt you-I'm just gonna bash your brains in."
    A simple, quick rant today..

It always sucks when the person you've made plans to hang with for the evening cancels..
ESPECIALLY when it happens right when your cab has pulled up to the place at which you've agreed to meet.

    ::grumbles angrily::

    Last minute cancellations are infuriating..

    New Year's Eve
Well, that sucked. ..Definitely the worst NYE of all time.

It does make me happy though to hear that, for the most part, everyone else I know seemed to have a fun-filled night spent with friends, or a quiet, cozy evening at home with family.
Now that's the way to do it.

    Happy 2009 to you all.

Sharing some New Year's Eve event info. with you
Full credit goes to kasdeja66 who found this event.

The Dances of Vice New Year's Eve party in NYC is apparently sold out. But there's another event happening called Shanghai Mermaid that is supposed to be quite similar. And it does look wonderful. ..kind of dreamy, sexy, and surreal. You've gotta look at some of the photos on their website. ;)

Watch what it says about tickets though. Get there early if this looks like something you'd like to attend!!

    Nothing prepares you
...for the absolute bliss you feel when you DON'T have to get up at 5AM for work and catch a 6:19 train..

No, no, there will none of that... not today.

It's a stay in your pajamas until noon,/pet the cat/and go ahead and eat some holiday chocolate for breakfast kind of a day.

And you are now two cents richer! :oP

    No sleep 'til..
There seems to be a recurring theme to the conversations I've been having with people lately: happiness and how to get it.
How do you achieve happiness and, if possible, how do you hold onto it?

One friend of mine recently shared an interesting idea with me:

    "Happiness is a choice."

We discussed this briefly and I came to the conclusion that individuals have only some, not complete, control over their own happiness. ..If I had to wager a guess, I'd say we have roughly between 80-85 % control over the degree of happiness we have/feel in our lives.

..What do you think? Does anyone believe we have total, absolute control?

Also.. I was looking for some useful advice/guidance from another friend after I moaned and groaned about how most things/people these days are really beginning to get to me and bother me (even just the sight of certain things/people really get under my skin and get me angry). He responded by telling me that I have to reassess everything and determine what exactly is perpetuating the displeasing situation(s) I am currently in.
And you know what? I gave it some thought and he is exactly right. It's not enough and it's silly to mull over the same things hundreds of times and to keep coming up with the same conclusions and the same little list of things making you miserable. That really is just the beginning. Isn't it? We also have to have the courage and the dedication and the discipline to actively take control and make whatever necessary changes that will lead to more happiness in our lives.
I mean, that's the whole point, isn't it? And there's absolutely no one else that can do this but you. If you don't like something, then you have to do something about it. ..plain and simple.

Jeez. I feel like every several months I come to this very same conclusion...especially around this time of the year.
I always talk the talk. Let's see if I can walk the walk this time.

    New Year's Eve Doings
    Hello!
What is everyone doing for New Year's? I haven't heard of anything going on except for the following party. That CAN'T be the only option. What else is there?

    Help, please.

New toy for the new car :)
I ordered this fancy new toy yesterday for my car. Heh. ..Bit pricey, yes, but I think it's totally worth it (especially since I haven't a clue when it comes to roads/highways/directions/etc.):

    http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-760-Widescreen-Bluetooth-Automobile/dp/B000UX9YJ0/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1228357005&sr=8-1

I'm just a bit pissed that for so much money they couldn't friggin' include the mount for it. ..No. You have to go and spend an additional $30 to get the mount for your car. Grrr..

    Ah well.
    Maybe I'm just greedy.

    Skull cracking time #1,407
I don't think it's ever been hard to win cool points with me. (..telling me something remotely interesting or intelligent, kind or thoughtful gestures, introducing me to some cool music, sharing a neat quote you heard or read somewhere, teaching me something new.. These are just some of the ways to win cool points.)

It is, however, very, very easy to LOSE cool points.

Lately, those that have been racking up the cool points sooner or later end up saying or doing something thoughtless/hurtful, which unfortunately totally negates whatever it was they said or did that was cool in the first place. It just kills me! It's happening too often. People really don't think things through all the time (myself included). I just wanna tape people's mouths shut right after they say something cool, or chain 'em up before they go ahead and totally ruin whatever awesome thing they just did.

Holden Caulfield said it best when he said "People are always ruining things for you."

    :o( True dat.
